| I have 4 young children, born in 2002, 2004, 2008 and 2010. After the birth of my first baby, I grew to love breastfeeding
and raising a young baby. Mothering and family life touched me in a special way, and I wrote about my experiences and my story. I spent time around
other mothers, enjoying the company of others who shared an unspoken bond. My first birth experience left me feeling confused, like I had somehow
lost something which had rightfully been mine; with my next pregnancies, I determined to birth naturally with little intervention. With my subsequent
births, I saw the remarkable beauty of birth untouched and I realized I had found another of my passions in life: birth.

Experiencing my own as well as witnessing the pregnancy and birth journeys of women around me, I see how becoming a mother is a rich
and evocative part in the tapestry of a woman's life. Pregnancy itself is precious, full of hope and the feeling of something beautiful about to blossom;
birth is magical and deeply intense, culminating in a baby, and mother, being born. A birthing woman's spirit and strength should be celebrated.
Breastfeeding helps mothers find their own rhythm after birth and provides them with a way to nurture their babies physically and emotionally. I have
complete faith in women's inner resources, and in their bodies' design to grow, birth and nurture their babies.
Women and families benefit from support, care, and being around others who appreciate the inherent ability of these couples to be parents.
Couples are often overwhelmed by the depths of the emotions they experience as expectant parents, and the vast amount of information available. Having
the skills to navigate pregnancy and birth means that new parents can take responsibility for their birth choices, and go on to shape the kinds of births they have.
Through ParentLink, I am able to offer expectant couples and breastfeeding mothers sensitive and respectful care as they move into this
new season of parenting. I thoroughly enjoyed my childbirth education training with CBI, and am excited to take on further training in many areas within
birthwork and parenting. Yet, the on-the-job learning I experience everyday from mothering 4 spirited children is likely my biggest teacher!
